Students formally register with the Industry Training Authority as Youth Apprentices and in addition to earning 16 Graduation credits, some may also qualify for a $1,000.00 Youth Work in Trades Award (Youth Work in Trades Award Info).

If you are a Grade 10 student who identifies as female and are interested in learning more about Firefighting this opportunity could be for you!

Join Lieutenant Reich and her colleagues at the Vernon Fire Department for a day of learning. Activities will include; participating in drills, listening to various experiences from the voices of Firefighters and much more.

Every summer the Vernon Fire Zone hires students from grade 12 to work with them for the season. It’s an opportunity for students to learn what it takes to be a wildland firefighter in BC. They will spend every day training, working as part of a team on work projects, and responding to wildland fires with their crews.
