Hello OKL Families: It has been so nice to see the kids back after the break. It sounds like most families had a rather quiet time off, but I think that is really what everyone needed. As we head into this term, the rules for COVID have changed throughout the province which includes the school. We sent letters home from our Superintendent this week outlining the new mask rules. As you know, masks are now required to be worn by students in grades 4-7 and students in kindergarten to grade 3 are strongly recommended to wear a mask. This is for the three week circuit breaker period in BC. We will await further updates from the health authorities regarding any changes to this plan. Please review the letters sent home this week. The second letter from the Superintendent outlines the policy for exemptions from the mask mandate. If your child falls into this category, please email Mrs. van der Meer at the school to request an exemption. Thank-you.
Next week you will receive an invitation to sign up for our up-coming Student/Parent/Teacher conferences on April 22 and 23. All conferences will be virtual.
We have started the Battle of the Beats and classes have voted on their favourite song from the first two choices. This will continue next week and is a great way to kick off our days. We will also be starting Run for Fun on Tuesday so make sure your kids have their running shoes at school. Our Bucket Fillers focus also continues and we have made three spirit wear draws already. It’s great to see the positive behaviours the children are showing.
The groundwork around our new playground has been completed and grass seed is planted. Thank-you again to our PAC for fundraising to purchase this wonderful addition to our school grounds.
We wish everyone a fantastic Easter weekend. Please remember that both Friday and Monday are holidays. We look forward to seeing our students once again on Tuesday, April 6
