Alternative Learning Program School
Students who attend Vernon Alternative Learning Program must be referred through their home high school and School District #22 Student Support Services, who can be contacted at 250-542-3331.
ALP offers individualised course programs for students working on coursework at the grade 8 – 12. Vernon Alternative Learning Program provides a school program for those students who cannot attend a regular secondary program for a variety of social, behavioural, and/or emotional reasons. Enhanced support services are provided to all our students. Our goal is to provide a space where students can experience the educational process in a supportive and positive environment.
Our school is located in a separate facility away from all other SD No. 22 high schools.
Many students work towards returning to regular high school by improving their study and personal management skills and increasing their daily school attendance time or they can choose to remain in the Alternate Programme.
The key factor that determines student success is the student’s willingness to take personal responsibility for his or her own education. If willing to do so, we are committed to helping him/her achieve personal educational goals!
We have a NOYFS (North Okanagan Youth & Family Support) worker as well as a substance abuse counsellor available at our school to work with all of our students.
